Zerberts

When was the last time you GOT a zerbert? I've given plenty in my lifetime as a mommy-- but it's been a VERY long time since I've received a zerbert.

Until 5 minutes ago. I was bending over trying to find some frozen veggies in the bottom of the freezer to compliment our dinner of pigs in a blanket :). Barrett walks up behind me, pulls up my shirt, and proceeds to give me a zerbert on my back. I jumped, as it was quite a shock- which made him laugh harder and do it again. It was that deep belly laugh that a mother loves to hear. A Zerbert!!! Who does that!?! Ahhhhhh... to be 2 and worry free again!

What's a zerbert, you ask? Here's the definition from Wikipedia: Blowing a raspberry or strawberry or making a Bronx cheer is to make a noise signifying derision (and/or silliness), made by sticking out the tongue between the lips and blowing to make a sound reminiscent of flatulence. In the terminology of phonetics, this sound can be described as an unvoiced linguolabial trill [r̼̊]. It is never used in human language phonemically (i.e., to be used as a building block of words), but it is widely used across human cultures.

Flu Shots...

The DREADED flu shot appointment!!! Hannah was SOOO nervous and sad about getting her flu shot (go figure, she gets a shot every day!-- but according to the shot expert, "doctor shots hurt a LOT more!") So, we promised to take the kids out for lunch afterwards and we let Hannah pick the order that everyone would get their shots. (she likes to be in control... not like anyone else I know?!?) So she went first to get it over with:

WHEW!!!

Then Brock (mr. "I love flu shots!")

Then Hunter (aka tough boy)

Then Barrett- and this is the only pic I got. I forgot my camera, so these are all cell phone shots. Thanks Brock for your nice LARGE head right in front of Barrett laying on the table. He was the funniest of all... when she put the needle in, all he said was-
"OUCH!!!!!" (in a real angry voice).
Then Bauer-- no pic, I was helping hold him. But he hardly cried either. Much easier than 2 weeks of the flu eh?!

Here they all are outside of the doctor's office- on our way to their reward lunch-- more about that later...

You should have seen the looks on people's faces as we trailed through the doctor's office with all 5 kids in tow--- I could actually read their lips counting: 1,2,3,4,5... WOW!

Record Breaker!

Bauer is growing up TOO fast. He is getting so big and doing things
WAAAAY earlier than the rest of my kids.
"Hi Annie..."
Kickin' back- sockless Joe Jackson- always!

I think he just feels like if he doesn't get it done, he'll get left in the dust. Sad to say, but it's the truth.
So... he's crawling, sitting up and pulling up in his crib, and he cut his first tooth this week.
And he's not even 8 months old. Now, you may be thinking that's not so early. This is early for the Sivleys. We like to take our time. Not a single one of my kids has had teeth on their first birthday. Hunter was my earliest walker ON his first birthday. Crawling usually happens about 10 months in this household. Bauer is a RECORD BREAKER!!! Watch out!
Bauer and Mama... love you!

Barrett-isms

So this kid is HILARIOUS!!!! I seriously don't know where he gets his stuff, but he is definitely the comic of the house. Beats out his older brothers comedy routines any day... Here's a sneak peak of the last few weeks of Barrett-isms, as he's learning new words daily. The kid kills me!

Barrett has been very interested in Star Wars lately. He especially loves "Darf Fader" and the "Storm Poopers." Those are his favorite guys. (He also went to his friend "Pooper's" bday party last week... Pooper is really Cooper, but he just can't get the C in there... sorry Jen!)

Today, while out to lunch after flu shots, we were sitting in the restaurant, just about to leave, and Barrett is smiling and laughing with a guy at the table behind us. He keeps going, "Hey!" and laughing. Then finally he says, "Mom, it's like Star Wars- mom- look, Darf Fader!!!" I turn around and look at a very nice African American Man sitting behind us whose skin is rather dark and Darf Fader-ish looking. I promptly asked Hunter to take Barrett out to the car before the man heard Barrett screaming, "DARF FADER!!!! DARF FADER!!" Nice...

So, we are STILL potty training. Yes- we are. The other day, I took off Barrett's morning diaper and just let him run around naked. Well, a few minutes later, he comes downstairs and says, "Mom- I poop in toyroom." (remember the I poop in Hunter room?) Yep, I go upstairs and you would have thought we had a dog. That's all I'm going to say about that because my mom was mortified I'd even mention it and she'll be very grateful to know that I did NOT take a picture. I was tempted.

Fast Forward to yesterday in the doctor's office:

Brock: Hey Barrett, are you a baby?

Barrett: No- I big boy.

Brock: Well, if you were a big boy, you wouldn't poop in your diaper. You're a baby.

Barrett: No, I NOT baby! I big boy! I NOT go poop in my biper -- I poop in TOY ROOM!!

Have I mentioned that Honeycrisp apples are my very very fav? They're a little pricy, but oh so worth it. This very moment, I just turned around to find Barrett with a stool up to the fridge, getting yet ANOTHER Honeycrisp apple out to eat. (This is is 5th, I only bought 6.) He just said, "Mom said NO!" Yep, mom said NO-- but does that phase him? Nope.

He is always eating something. Never wants to sit down and eat a meal, he just likes to graze. The other day he came into my room chewing on something and I said, "Barrett- what are you eating?" He quickly put his finger in his mouth and said, "My Finger MOM!"

Barrett wakes up every morning and wants a hot dog for breakfast. I have yet to give in (although I am close). The other day he was BEGGING! I said, "Barrett, hot dogs are not for breakfast, they are for lunch, now what do you want for BREAKFAST?" He said, "Lunch." Smart kid.

Tired, Sore, and Behind on my DVR'd shows

That's the story folks. It's been a long 2 weeks of "re-arrange" in the Sivley household! Bauer has been sleeping in our "master retreat" since birth. We decided it was time to move him upstairs... and so we did! That meant rearranging rooms since Brock & Barrett used to share and Hunter had his own room. Hunter and Brock decided to share a room- and got busy making plans for their room. Barrett & Bauer got stuck together, and poor Hannah is still all alone in her cute little room. She's BEGGIN' for a sister... sorry babe! No guarantees and no plans!

So here's the pics of the two finished rooms. I think they look pretty fun! The older boys wanted "no theme," just colors... and sorry Brock- them are DALLAS COWBOY colors! Like it or not! Go Romo! #9!!

The little boys got the "other" Cowboy gear... this was in Brock & Barrett's room before, I just used what I had and bought a few new items- it worked out great! Got that headboard for Barrett's bed for $20 off Craig's List! Love it! You can't really tell, but it has the "X's" on it like a barn door- so cute! And there's usually hats hanging on the hooks on that hat thing, but Barrett keeps taking them off and playing "I'm a cowboy, mom!"
Barrett's in a big boy bed now- ask me how naps are going!?! NOT.

Here's my little helpers- Barrett said to me: "NO TAKE PICTURE ME MOM!!" He closed his eyes so I couldn't take a picture... ha ha.
Happy Bauer- gotta love that gummy grin and those cheeks. I could just smooch on them all day!
Ok, time to tune into my DVR. I've got a lot of catchin' up to do! ByE ByE!
p.s. Halloween/Fall decorations are UP! Got 'em up Oct. 2nd-- it feels fallish in my house! :)
