Pinewood Derby

It went great, but Brock doesn't want me to post about it. He's posting on his blog. Check it out there... but not right now cuz he hasn't posted it yet. And I won't tell you that he won 2nd place, cuz he's going to tell you that.

And I will just post a itty bitty picture of his car since he's posting that too.

Barrett wanted to race his car too.

Fun Fun Racing!

Stay of Execution

Thank you to all my loyal blog readers (all 7 of you)... you were heard!! THE CPSC has granted a stay of execution!!! They are extending the date of what we call "National Bankruptcy Day" for one entire year. They will be taking that time to re-evaluate the law and re-vote on it... which gives us SO MUCH TIME to make our voices heard even stronger! This is just fantastic. Aren't you so glad you came to my blog today? Doesn't this just make your heart warm?! It does mine!

p.s. the bad news: no huge sales... I can deal with that!

Happy Clean Baby...

I can hardly believe he's almost one... where has the time gone? He's growing up waaaay too fast! Guess it's time for another one!

That would be a big
HAAAAAA
HAAAAAA
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Where have all the good toys gone?

Did you have one of these as a kid?
I just drove about 45 minutes away to go buy this from some guy off Craig's list for $3.00. Barrett has wanted a toy garage and we've gotten 3 in the last 3 months that have all broken! Toys are made SO CHEAP nowadays! This was one just like I played w/ as a kid... I love it.
How about this? What a classic! Love this xylophone!

Seriously...

they're going to be gone soon... every cool or unique toy out there will be taken off store shelves and prohibited from being sold on ebay, craig's list, etc. on FEBRUARY 10, 2009. It's also called National Bankruptcy Day. So many home businesses and larger businesses will go under and close their doors because they can't afford to test their products for ridiculous lead levels. I am even supposed to get my nursing covers, blankets, and burpcloths tested.

Excuse me? Where is there lead in fabric? Testing costs between $400-$1,000+ PER ITEM. I've got 16 fabrics, that's $16,000... JUST for the nursing covers alone. Nevermind the burpees and blankets. It's ridiculous... Read more about it at National Bankruptcy Day or sign the petition here. Please, if you want to have any variety in the clothes you buy for your children, the toys they put on their wish lists, etc. Tell the government about it!!!

Otherwise we'll all be closing our doors in less than 2 weeks and won't be able to SELL anymore products publicly! And I'll just have to "give" y'all stuff from my collection, if ya know what I mean. PLEASE HELP!!!!

p.s. take advantage of stores trying to empty their shelves before 2/10... there will probably be some pretty good sales as they will have to pull everything off their shelves and send them back to the manufacturer on that dreadful day!

Bad Weather Day--

This is the morning after... the lights out episode!
We had the Biggs family over for a day full of playing (inside) and LOTS and LOTS of noise!!

Lights OUT!

We've had some pretty cold and icy weather lately. Tues. night, we were without electricity for a few hours. We had lots of candles and a few flashlights, but it was still a crazy night. It was about 19 degrees outside and our house started to get COLD. So the kids bundled up on the couch and settled in for the night.

Tired Brock?

Scared Hunter?

CRAZY KIDS!!!

Ice...

That there is called "freezing rain, Y'all!!!"

This is what I bought on Wed. in case it happens again!!

Pillows & Curtains... cuz a girl's gotta have cute ones!!!

These curtains (the green part) were left here by the previous owners of the house. The shortness of them has bugged me for 2 1/2 years. I figured it was about time to do something about it, and thanks to my friend Callie for the idea, it turned out fantastic... and it only took me about 15 minutes and $6.00 to do. Ahhhh. 15 minutes and no more bugging!! Should have done that a long time ago!

I also decided it was time for some new pillows. So, off went the old pillow cases and to the sewing machine I went. I've had fun making them... they look so great, NOW- if only everyone in my family would just put them back on the dang couch after they get up, that would be the true miracle!!

I took this picture to post on the wall by the chore charts so my kids know how to put the pillows back on "mom's way." I'll let you know how successful that is.
